It’s the first Monday in May! Is anyone else excited that summer is right around the corner?
My trip to London was amazing (more to come!) but what happened in the time I was away in was miraculous! Trees popped, flowers are everywhere and this past weekend summer paid us a little visit in New York City leaving sidewalks packed and parks teeming with sun bathers.
So on days like this, my outfit tends to skew a little more play thank couture than play. While uptown they may be putting finishing touches on couture – I’m more of a downtown, play clothes kind of gal. Remember that? Play clothes? They were the perfect combination of cute and comfortable and allowed the freedom to adapt to any activity.
Fast-forward 20 years and I don’t think play clothes have lost their appeal since my day took me from brunch to a neighborhood walk to cocktails on open rooftops and then a birthday party. While it may not be hide and go seek, “grown-up” play clothes need to withstand my on-the-go life. So that’s where finding something of quality and at the right price while also capitalizing on the cuteness factor matters.
So in the spirit of spring/summer – I paid a visit to one of my favorite hidden gems of New York City – Century21. Built for those that love the hunt, (I totally do!) this blue off the shoulder number from Essue was a great find. It’s versatility factor? It’s actually a romper! Built in shorts for the function, off the shoulder fashion made for the perfect run around town outfit. Also, if you haven’t purchased a pair of Karl Lagerfeld’s shoe line – do it! I love these luggage brown sandals with gold stud accents and a good block heel fun yet still comfortable for running around town.
We also won’t talk about the Keds that are currently in my bag. (wink!)
For more affordable, fun and fashionable finds you can visit Century21 at their Lincoln Square or TriBeCa Downtown locations. With floors and floors of high-fashion at great value, it’s a perfect play clothes kind of place. Plus if you can’t find it in store – much of their stock is also online! Check it out here.
So here’s to many more play days ahead and while I’ll be watching the social media feeds of the most couture, I’ll opt for play clothes instead!
Thanks to Century21 for partnering with me on this post.
The exciting part about rebranding has been taking time to rethink everything on the site. From new layouts to meta tags to logos and content – it’s kind of nice to shake things up.
(yes – this is gingham, but hey all the prints, right?)
So as we wrap up April I’m introducing a new series – Top 10’s. A way to share some of my favorite style and beauty finds and some favorite must haves I’ve been sharing and shopping lately. As I’m sure you’ve seen in storefronts and throughout the liketoknow.it feed blue and white striped everything is everywhere! I am loving it as it’s the perfect blend of pastel hues and reminds me of Santorini. Photo diary coming I promise. During my few weeks of spring shopping I even added to my already growing collection as Zara, Banana Republic and favorite ShopBop designers added pieces to spring collections. So if you’re in the “blue mood” here’s a few favorites from ruffle off the shoulder tops to Soludos slides and more.

The turkey is in the oven, the parade is on and I’m counting down the hours till I can pour my first glass of Chardonnay and get kicked out of the kitchen. If you’re anything like me today is the first of many hosted events that the holiday season will bring. From wine-filled soirees to ugly sweater parties (here’s a few ideas) I never want to show up empty handed. Simple and thoughtful gifts such as a Henri Bendel white spruce candle or a fun wine bottle opener are great party gifts! Also the not to miss William Sonoma Hot Chocolate are holiday tastes to die for.
On top of gifts for the party hosts – I found a few picks for those that love to entertain, moms, aunts, friends, sisters, brothers and Dad’s. Anyone that likes to put on the dog really. For a bit more tailored countertop William Sonoma has sets with mixed metals such as they Copper collection. I’m loving their Copper Rim Barware Collection which can also double as a great set for Dad, brother or boyfriend.

I saw a headline that read – “burn the sweaters” the other day, and while my wardrobe purgatory may agree – reentry has me making over my closet in a big way.
I have to admit – colder weather and I aren’t friends.
By now (and as evidenced above) you know I’ve been globe trotting. Video diary, postcard posts and way more instagrams to follow, there was literally too many amazing shots to capture. But from the warm weather of Greece and Italy, I’m finding that the summer clothes are no longer doing the trick and I am spending way too much time searching for the perfect cozy sweater on Shopbop. (I found this one!)
So amidst tons of photo and video editing over hot toddy’s (Yay! for hot toddy weather) I am going to be cleaning out and switching up my seasonal staples Bye Jack Rogers (le sigh!) hello bean boots! Plus with my next trip already booked (we’re going cold!) we’ll need to kick the cozy into high gear. So I’ve gathered a few inspirational picks that will get me through hot apple cider weather and strolls through Central Park.
I don’t know about you but just when I think I’m done with the Nordstrom Sale… my mouse starts clicking away again, especially on a Monday when I’m living in denial about starting a new week.
From final summer finds to discounted fall staples, what’s one more go around before I put my credit card under lock and key till winter right? (Oh the pep talk I give myself.) We’ll in honor of rewarding myself during my birthday month, while easing wallet woes, I rounded up my favorite Under $100 last-minute finds I just couldn’t seem to live without.
Let’s be honest, are we really working this week? Let the countdown to the 4th begin!
(I mean – this Fourth Of July themed dress – done and done!) Find it here on ASOS
This will be the first 4th of July I haven’t been in the U.S. and the feeling is bittersweet. July 4th is my absolute favorite holiday. Beach picnics, red white and blue hues, endless games of corn hole, good friends good music and all the rose ending in fireworks – pretty perfect.
So to get a taste, I found myself scouring favorite online shops for several 4th inspired styles and accessories all with shipping to arrive on your doorstep just in time for the holiday. It’s the least I can do before the Instagram starts flooding with photos of Paris… and two more destinations to be announced tomorrow!

Let me also tell you about HONEY… If you’re a chrome user like myself, go to the “apps” page and install the HONEY plugin. On any purchase page from any website it click on the icon which will be housed in the top right corner of your browser. The bot will scour the Internet for savings codes and 9/10 have you at least save on shipping! It’s my new shopping buddy.
Who’s ready for the 4th?
Say it with me people – Hola Summer! Happy Memorial Day!
I’m officially a little bit sun-kissed and the inaugural BBQ’s and rosé pouring have gone off without a hitch. Today, it’s all about the beach and I plan to hit the sand and surf fully stocked with the essentials for the perfect day ahead.
The sun is shining and I guess you could say I’m the whitest girl at the party.
My recent trip to Palm Springs came with a few things – warm temps, a five-star resort and some hot hot sun! As a total sun baby you can bet that the swimsuit was packed and I was on a mission to catch some serious rays to defray my Casper status. Hey, it may work for the Olsen twins… but not me. (more…)
Back to the land of big skies, boots and beer gardens! I’m off to Austin.
I spent time thinking in my cab this morning that I’ve probably been on a plane to Texas over 200 times. You would think my consistency would have my packing down to a science.
